Q&A
Each therapy session is unique to the client and therapist. During your first visit to my practice you can expect to complete initial intake forms, provide personal background information, and discuss any primary concerns. At the conclusion of the initial session, we will decide together whether or not ongoing sessions are warranted. If we agree to schedule a follow-up session, I will most likely assign a homework exercise. I believe that homework is important to the process in keeping momentum and to integrating therapeutic concepts into your life.
No. While I believe that some clients benefit from a combination of talk-therapy and psychopharmacological treatment, we will decide together which treatment methods are best for you.
Standard sessions are scheduled for 50 minutes, once per week, to start. Progressing forward, sessions will taper down to conclusion of treatment. Sometimes, however, individuals who are struggling with a particularly difficult challenge may request more time per session or more than one session per week.
Therapy can be short-term to focus on a specific issue, or long-term to address more complex issues and ongoing personal growth.
Together, we will decide the number of sessions necessary for you to benefit.
There may be times when I might suggest that you take certain actions outside of the therapy sessions, such as enrolling in a specialized support- or educational-group. Ongoing, you will most likely be asked to complete homework and/or workbook exercises.
It is very important that you feel a connection with your therapist. My desire is that you feel comfortable with and confident in whomever you choose to work. If either of us feel that your needs would be better served by another therapist or a therapist with a specialty of which I am unfamiliar, I will do whatever I can to provide you with an appropriate referral.
Yes. I do accept some insurances. Please read the Rates and Insurance information.
If you plan to use insurance after reviewing the Rates and Insurance information, you will be asked to contact your insurance provider to obtain an authorization number for services.
You will generally be responsible for a copayment, and I will submit a bill for the remainder of the fee to your insurance company.
If you have a deductible or coinsurance, payment is due upon receipt of invoice.
